不速来客 Ciel directs Behind the scene documentary for Chinese Movie

I just came back from one month of intense filming in Chong Qing, China, where I directed the behind the scene (making) documentary of Chinese movie 不速来客。

With a powerful pack of casts like Fan Wei 范伟 (Golden-Horse best actor), Shawn Dou 窦骁, Liang Chao 梁超, Zhang Songwen 张颂文 etc, the movie is a dark humour suspense story with most parts taking place in just one apartment.
The movie is scheduled to be released later this year, and I can’t wait to show the completed documentary.

I have never worked so long in China before, and it was a wonderful learning experience with elites of the Chinese movie industry. Also met many new friends during my time there. The atmosphere and energy in China is certainly different from Japan. I am open to more Chinese movie projects in 2020.

Ciel hosts Made in Japan, a programme by Discovery Channel Japan

This has got to be a highlight this year, as I host an episode of Made in Japan by Discovery Channel Japan, and was able to talk about my work, as well as ride my yellow Vespa in it!
Director Yusei Watanabe and I met one August morning in Yakun Bugis Junction, and the conversation was amazing. He invited me to host an episode to find out the secrets behind the superior quality of Mouse computers, made in Nagano prefecture.
Having lived and produced stories about Japan in the past 3 years, it is my pleasure and I feel honoured to discuss the secrets behind Made in Japan quality, and I look forward to more chances like this in future.

Ciel is featured in Oku Aizu promotion video.

Thanks to my wonderful friends who always bring me opportunities to try new things, such as acting in the promotion video of Okuaizu,

“A view of Okuaziu from Tadami Line, the world's most romantic railway.”

Directed by Naoya Watanabe, Produced by Ken Fujino.

If you are seeking some authentic Japanese winter countryside life, and wants in-depth travel experience, Okuaizu is definitely something special! The view from Tadami Line is so pristine and insta-ready, you can find a slow way to live in snow country here.

Tokyo Metro Promotion Video + Production Partnership with Points

We love working with like-minded people.

I got a call in July while in Singapore. A week later I’m back in Tokyo to shoot the promotion video for Tokyo Metro for Vietnam market.

In two days we ran around Tokyo and covered more than 10 locations! It is always challenging to balance time and quality, which is why planning, experience and focus is key in those situations.

With this, Points and I have formed a production partnership to utilise our skills and reach to produce more great campaigns for our clients in Japan, Singapore and Southeast Asia market.
This is truly exciting as I am very eager to introduce Japan to South East Asia one of the largest and growing market at the moment.
